What you need to know about viral diseases?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

There is a very long-standing liaison between human beings and virus that wander unreservedly in our environment. Virus has a long history of disconcerting people.

A virus is a microorganism that is not visible to the naked eye. It is highly contagious and communicable. A virus attacks and clips to a living cell of the human body. It then discharges its DNA or RNA, which smashes the original genetic material and functioning of the cell. But before the victimized cell expires, it leaves or releases more of that virus. The virus multiplied in such a fashion impedes the growth and working of other healthy cells too, so much so that sooner or later the entire body comes in its grips. However, the immune system of the body endeavors its best to brawl the viral attack. But it does not succeed in all the cases. Due to this reason, the doctors and dieticians prescribe a healthy diet rich in nutrition that strengthens the resistance of the body.

The Residence and Transmission of Virus- there are different types of viruses known. Some infect humans, others animals and a few affect both. Viruses are everywhere in our surroundings. They can be transmitted via the food we eat, air we breathe, water we drink, sexual contact etc.

Some common Viral Infections- there are some well known viruses and the diseases caused by them.

· HIV virus is one that destroys the cells in the immune system of our body. It is therefore named as HIV i.e. Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV takes the form of AIDS at an advanced later stage. HIV virus reaches the human body through several ways such as- via sex with a partner who is already living with HIV, though infected mother’s milk to her child, through human saliva, HIV contaminated needles, syringes and so forth.

Thus, one should be very cautious regarding all these factors. Completely safety should be observed to avert lifelong HIV infection especially because no adequate cure is yet available to eliminate the effect of HIV.

· Hepatitis is even caused by virus. Since different kinds of viruses are at work, there are different types of hepatitis. These viruses harm the human liver, which results in its burning or Inflammation.
TRUTH About SWINE FLU 1976 part 1 of 2

Hepatitis A and E spread via the food and water of the infected person and through anal sex. There exists a vaccine for hepatitis A but not for E. Hepatitis B is caused by unprotected sex, childbirth and contact with infected person. Vaccination is available for hepatitis B and it is better nowadays to get vaccinated against it. This sterilization also ceases the threat to be caught by hepatitis D in future. Hepatitis C virus is transferred by the way of contaminated blood and is cured through medicines.

A possible prevention to hepatitis is to maintain hygiene and vigilance in matters of sex and contacts with other persons.

· West Nile Virus is known for causing diseases in animals, birds as well as humans. In humans the WNV reaches through the bite of an infected mosquito. Once the virus enters an individual’s blood, it can get transferred to all those who come in contact with it though blood transfusions, organ transplants, breastfeed and so forth.

In order to prevent oneself from the WNV, check the population of mosquitoes in your area and near your house. Don’t allow water logging, open bins, unhygienic sanitation, open pits etc. in your vicinity.Medication through drugs and no vaccination per se is present for WNV.

· Mostly the Asian and African continents encounter the threat of Polio Virus. This virus can result in a minor to complete paralysis. The poliovirus can infect person of any age. Due to the lack of hygiene this virus comes in the air through human feces and gets circulated. It enters the human body through his mouth and makes its way to the intestines. This virus particularly damages the legs of the person. The paralysis in legs due to poliovirus cannot be cured. It also destroys the respiratory system by making the breathing muscles immobile.

Most often polio hits the infants. Polio drops and vaccines are available everywhere. People should take them and give these to their kids too.

Credit Repair Involving Identity Theft

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Crime like any other business is always constantly changing and evolving to the various nuances of the market and is one of the world’s best industries for relying upon new technology to better facilitate its goals. With the advent of the internet and the sudden massive increase in online banking and the increasing prevalence of financial and retail services being offered via the internet this has meant that criminals have now found a an entirely new captive audience in which to steal from. Identity theft is fast becoming one of the most significant and harmful threats to the online user, and the economic losses it results in both the victim and for the wider economy is staggering.

Identity theft as the name would perhaps first suggest is whereby a criminal illegally obtains a person’s personal details and then uses those details in order to engage in purchases or other retail services. The end stage objectives of identity theft range from petty larceny and fraud, to more worrying crimes such as mass scale money laundering. Because it is the victims details that are being used, the thief need only concern themselves with using the personal details for as long as possible before the authorities and or victim should happen to realize what is going on.

Identity theft is an issue that is especially dangerous via the internet in part due to the ever increasing so and desperate lengths that criminals and fraudsters will go to in order to steal a person’s personal details. One of the most common scams currently being used is so called “phishing” whereby a prospective victim is sent an email which claims to be from either their bank, PayPal or some other form of monetary or credit service.

The structure is typically the same, the victim is sent a rather pointed letter purporting to be from the respective agency concerning some issue with their account and with the email concluding that they should use a link contained within the email to change their password and username. As the unsuspecting victim goes to check the link they are then redirected to a phishing site which is made to resemble the relevant website, and which will actually log the details.

If you do happen to receive a suspicious email and it does contain a link to a webpage/site which you are uncertain about then hover the mouse arrow over the url, this will result in a small box appearing which will clearly display the real url and if the two do not match then it is obvious that the hyperlink has been masked and thus is fraudulent.

Such trickery can easily be avoided, banks as a rule do not email customers about such a sensitive issue over the internet for exactly this reason. If the email happens to be rather pushy or overly demanding, requiring you to change your details within a narrow time frame then there is a very high chance that this is indeed a fraudulent email.

Many email services such as yahoo mail and Hotmail already have very powerful and effective anti-phishing programs present within their services and so this will be typically enough to beat nearly all phishing attempts. Common sense and awareness are paramount to safeguard against you becoming a victim.

Whenever you do need to log onto a site where sensitive details will be used and submitted, make sure you are using a secured site. Secured sites are easily spotted because in the web address bar which contains the url for the relevant site will have https:// as opposed to http. That little s may not seem like much, but rest assured such sites will make use of very powerful encryption technology to dissuade and block dangerous users.

Viruses and more specifically key loggers are also another computer related danger, and a danger which can pose a threat because of their usage as a tool for committing identity theft. Key loggers are programs that will record all of the keys pressed by a user with such data then stored and sent discreetly to the creator who can then check for passwords and other pertinent details. Key loggers are classified as a virus (also known as a Trojan horse) and so any reliable antivirus program will be enough to help protect you from this particular threat.

Key loggers and spyware are most commonly found in porn sites, mp3 sites and peer to peer networks where people file share copyrighted material. If you do use these sites, please make sure that you have adequate protection running in the background so as to safeguard against any such risks. Prevention is better than the cure and with internet security and safety never have truer words been uttered so you may want to refrain from using such potentially dangerous sites.

Freeware Antivirus Software

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Avira Antivir Personal Edition is becoming more and more popular and is being recommended by either corporate or home users. This is because aside from being absolutely free for download and personal use, Avira Antivir is also powerful and functional enough to go toe to toe with expensive commercial pc security suites. Avira is also fast and easy to install; when it comes to installing the program, the computer does not need to be restarted and you do not need to put in so much personal information.

The main features of the Avira AntiVir Personal Edition are listed below in brief:

1. Real-time protection: This means that when there is an incoming threat the program will immediately deal with it and notify you about it. Upon notification, you will have the option to block, quarantine or even allow the process. You an also configure Avira to make the choice automatically for you. The software effectively guards the computer against computer viruses, worms and Trojan horses.

2. On-demand Scanner: It lets you scan a file before opening it especially when it comes to compressed files. All you need to do is right-click on the file then choose the option to scan the file. This is very effective against hidden Trojans or viruses that are put inside compressed archives and set to run upon extraction.

3. Auto-Updater: This feature will immediately check for updates applicable to the software using a predetermined schedule. It will also notify the user abou
Computer Freeware Programs Made Easy Part 2

t the new updates. The updates help in protecting the computer from newly discovered threats. It has been said that there are several updates for VDF files in a day to make sure that the application detects all possible threats at the soonest possible time.

4. Quarantine for detected viruses and malicious files: If there are viruses or malicious files that were not removed or cleaned it will be placed in a quarantine area. If there are already updates that will allow Avira to heal or clean the file then it will perform the necessary removal or cleaning. Quarantined files are also recorded into the database to help gather more information about unknown threats, which allow Avira to safeguard against them in the future.

5. Scheduler: The user can set the time when the software will perform the scan automatically. This is very helpful for people who leave the computer on all the time and have no time to manually perform a system scan regularly

6. Email Scanner: The software will be able to scan opened emails and emails attachments, which is one of the main avenues for Trojan, virus and spyware infections. You don’t have to worry about receiving attachments anymore because Avira will protect you from malware masquerading as zipfiles, scripts and even executables.

Information that can Help in Swine Flu

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

June 2009.For anyone that doesnt know according to CDC figures 36000 die EVERY year from the NORMAL flu in America,so why is this "Swine Flu" being presented as if its gonna be a MEGA-DEMIC OF DEATH! And dont forget the outbreak of swine flu in 1976 where many more people died of the vaccine given than the swine flu. And if you do know these things then please tell everyone you know!

The world is facing a serious flu threat in the form of swine flu. Currently human cases of swine flu have been reported from Mexico and the US. Swine flu was first reported in Mexico, where several people have died from the new strain of the influenza virus, so health authorities have been put on a high alert to prevent a pandemic like situation from occurring.

Swine flu is a respiratory disease that is caused by influenza A (H1N1) virus. Its main symptoms are similar to that of a seasonal flu like fever, coughing, lack of appetite, runny nose, nausea, sore throat, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Currently there is no vaccine available for the treatment of swine flu. However, doctors feel that popular anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu and Relenza can prove useful for treatment as well as preventive purposes.

A popular prescription drug, Tamiflu, can help treat influenza type A infection, which includes swine flu. Not only this, it can also prevent the flu. The main ingredient in Tamiflu is oseltamivir, which stops the further spread of the virus in the body, providing it more immunity to fight back.

Another flu treatment called Relenza, contains the ingredients Zanamivir (5mg) and lactose (20 mg), which effectively treat influenza type A and B infections. This flu treatment comes in a powdered form, which is inhaled twice in a day for five days or at least once daily for up to 28 days.

Apart from taking any anti-viral medication, you can prevent swine flu infection by taking everyday preventive measures and by knowing about the common swine flu symptoms. First and foremost is to avoid a contact with an infected person. You should always try to keep a distance, and if he or she is your closest or dearest one, then use mask whenever you go nearer to that person.

7 Steps to Get the Best Online Internet Security

Friday, February 12th, 2010

www.weforum.org 28.01.2010 The EU budget deficit was only 2% in 2008, but it is now expected to balloon to nearly 7% of gross domestic product for member economies as a whole in 2010. How can Europe repair its damaged public finances and still maintain its course for economic recovery? Lech Kaczynski, President of Poland Yves Leterme, Prime Minister of Belgium George A. Papandreou, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Prime Minister of Spain Jean-Claude Trichet, President, European Central Bank, Frankfurt Valdis Zatlers, President of Latvia Moderated by Robin Niblett, Director, Chatham House, United Kingdom; Global Agenda Council on Global Institutional Governance

The concerns of Internet Security have grown today like never before. Despite the continuous attempts of Internet community, the threats are increasing and getting more and more vicious by each passing day.

There are many Internet Security tools available in the market. Some of them are outstanding. But still, none of them is perfect. It can’t be. The best protection is in your own hands. Follow a disciplined approach while using Internet services.

1. Be careful about using MS Outlook. Outlook is more susceptible to worms than other e-mail programs, unless you have efficient Anti-Virus programs running. Use Pegasus or Thunderbird (by Mozilla), or a web-based program such as Hotmail or Yahoo.

2. Take special precaution while dealing with email attachments. Be cautious about attachments with a double extension, such as .txt.vb or .jpg.exe, as the system will only recognize the extension to the extreme right, and run the file as such. Double extensions are often a good indicator that the file is malicious.

3. Do not use disks that other people gave you, even from work. The disk could be infected with a virus. Of course, you can run a virus scan on it first to check it out, but AV programs are not 100% effective.

4. Do not download software from just any website. If it is a reputable site that you trust, you are probably safe. The threat is not only from software; even other file types like .txt, .doc, .xml can have infections.

5. Be careful when surfing. You might get a malicious script from a webpage without even getting a warning. Tweak your Browser settings for maximum safety.

6. Try to balance paranoia with common sense. Some people get really weird about viruses, spyware, etc. It’s just a computer! Back up your data and follow these steps, and it shouldn’t be a big problem.

7. Setup your download manager to scan a download first before you open it. When you click to download a file from Internet, generally browser gives two options. To save it on the Disk or To Open the file with the default program. Always choose the first option, because, it ensures that the download is first scanned with your antivirus, before saving it on the disk.

Treatment in Chicken Pox

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

My baby has a red, spotty rash all over her chest. Could it be chicken pox?

It is very possible. The chicken pox usually shows up on the body under the form of a simple rash (tiny red itching spots). These spots gradually turn into clear, fluid-filled blisters on a pink base, which after bursting will become dry brown crusts. One disadvantage would be the fact that this kind of blisters keep on appearing on the body for up to 7 more days. She might also be tired and slightly feverish.

A highly contagious disease, chicken pox is usually spread through air, when inhaling the air near a pacient with this disease that has just coughed or sneezed, pr by touch , again by coming in direct contact with a diseased person. Infants usually get their antibodies from their mothers while steal being in the womb, so it is very improbable for them to catch the disease in their first year of life. And even if they do in most cases it just a mild form they would be suffering from.

In the case of healthy babies chicken pox is more of a nuisance than a real threat. It is a completely other business if the child has a weak or weakened immune system. Chronic illness, leukemia or taking high dose oral steroids medication for asthma can lead to such a thing. Complication and infection can cause serious trouble for the pacient such as pneumonia or encephalitis, a serious brain disease. The best thing in this cases would be to call a doctor or a pediatrician as soon as symptoms of this viral disease appear in the young pacients. For more protection it is best to administer an injection of varicella zoster immune globulin or the varicella vaccine immediately after the exposure to the threat

For adults getting the disease is actually more dangerous than in the case of children because of the risk to develop complications such as bacterial pneumonia. To fight chicken pox doctors have researched and found a vaccine in 1995 witch they recommend to shot any child 12 months or older who hasn’t already had the disease. Having very few side effects, it is able to protect more than 95% from getting a serious case of chicken pox. The only downside is that it fails to completely immunize some 10 to 30 percent of the children, still this kids only get a very mild case of the disease.

Part of the treatment for chicken pox is giving the pacient bath every 3 to 4 hours to relieve the itching, adding some dry oat meal to the water. For the fever it is recommended to use acetaminophen not being indicated for pacients under 20. Best thing to do would be to follow the doctors advice.

For more information about symptoms of chicken pox or even about chicken pox virus please review this page http://www.chicken-pox-center.com/

Employment Opportunities for Veterinarians Expected to Grow Fast

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Employment opportunities for veterinarians are expected to grow fast. Single adults have come to appreciate animal companionship. Pet owners may be willing to pay for more elective and intensive pet care than they have in the past.

In addition, new scientific methods of breeding and raising livestock, poultry, and fish as long as the continued support for public health and disease control programs will also contribute to the demand for veterinarians. Demand for specialists in many areas including toxicology, laboratory animal medicine, and pathology is expected to increase. Most of these jobs for specialists will be in metropolitan areas.

Veterinarians have an inquiring mind and good powers of observation. They generally have aptitude and interest in the biological sciences. Veterinarians also need an understanding of animals. Veterinarians should be able to meet, talk, and work well with a variety of people.

The primary reward for all veterinarians is the personal satisfaction in knowing that they are improving the quality of life for animals and people. Depending on the stage of a veterinarian’s career, the type of practice, and the veterinarian’s likes and dislikes, the pluses and minuses of a veterinary career may vary.

Veterinarians who are employed by government agencies, laboratories, colleges, and commercial firms often have responsibility for large health programs and may manage large numbers of people.

Veterinarians who work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and for state and municipal food inspection services protect the public from diseased livestock and unsafe meat and poultry. They ensure that food products are safe and wholesome. To prevent the introduction of foreign diseases, veterinarians employed by state and federal regulatory agencies quarantine and inspect animals brought into the United States from other countries.

Veterinarians in research seek better ways to prevent and solve animal and human health problems. Many problems, such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, are studied through the use of laboratory animals, which are carefully bred, raised, and maintained under the supervision of veterinarians. Laboratory animal veterinarians help select the best animal models for particular research projects and ensure that the animals receive proper care.

In addition to developing ways to reduce or eliminate the threat of animal diseases, veterinarians involved in research have made many direct contributions to human health. Veterinarians were the first to isolate filterable viruses, slow viruses, the first tumor-causing virus and other pathogenic agents. They also helped conquer malaria and yellow fever, produced an anticoagulant used to treat some people with heart disease, and defined and developed surgical techniques for humans, such as hip-joint replacement and limb and organ transplants.

Veterinarians working in pharmaceutical and biomedical research firms develop, test, and supervise the production of drugs, chemicals, and biological products, such as antibiotics and vaccines for human and animal use. These veterinarians usually have specialized training in pharmacology, virology, bacteriology, pathology, parasitology, toxicology, nutrition, endocrinology, or laboratory animal medicine.

However, most veterinarians work in private clinical practice, which has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Veterinarians in private clinical practice gain satisfaction from helping owners keep their animals well and from treating sick and injured animals. Private clinical practitioners who own their own practices determine the nature of their practice and set their working hours. Because they are self-employed, most private clinical practitioners choose to work beyond normal retirement age.

Veterinarians in private practice serve a variety of animals. This is especially true in companion animal practice because of the increased popularity of pet birds, small mammals (like hamsters and gerbils), and fish. Today, a veterinarian may be treating llamas, catfish, or ostriches as well as cats, dogs, horses, cows, hogs, sheep, and goats.

The chief risk for veterinarians is injury by animals; however, modern tranquilizers and technology have made it much easier for veterinarians to work on all types of animals.

Large animal practitioners tend to work more irregular hours than do those in small animal practice, industry, or government.

Students interested in a career in veterinary medicine need to take a strong science, math, and biology program in high school. To be considered for admission to a college of veterinary medicine, a student must complete undergraduate preveterinary medical coursework, which usually includes three to four years of college study, with specific course requirements. General requirements include basic language and communication skills, social sciences, humanities, mathematics, chemistry, and the biological and physical sciences.

Preveterinary coursework can be completed at many colleges and universities, including those at which the veterinary medical schools are located.Admission to veterinary school is highly competitive.

Applicants usually have grades of “B” or better, especially in the sciences. Applicants must take the Veterinary Aptitude Test, Medical College Admission Test, or the Graduate Record Examination. Most colleges give preference to candidates with animal or veterinary related experience.

In most veterinary colleges the professional program comprises two phases. In the first phase, preclinical sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and microbiology are emphasized. Most of the students’ time is spent in classroom and laboratory study.

The second phase of professional study is principally clinical. Students learn the principles of medicine and surgery in the classroom and through hands-on clinical experience. Students learn to apply their knowledge in a clinical setting under the supervision of graduate veterinarians on the faculty. Students treat animals, perform surgery, and deal with owners who use the school’s clinical services.

In conclusion, students learn about many different animals and diseases, and become skilled in surgical techniques and many laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

After studies, veterinarians must acquire a license issued by the state they wont to work in. In research and teaching, a master’s or Ph.D. degree is usually required. Veterinarians who seek specialty board certification in one of the 20 specialty fields, such as ophthalmology, pathology, surgery, radiology, or laboratory animal medicine, must complete 2- to 5-year residency programs and must pass an examination.

Approximately half the states require veterinarians to attend continuing education courses to maintain their licenses. New scientific knowledge and techniques are constantly being developed, and veterinarians must keep up to date by reading scientific journals and attending professional meetings and seminars.
